Dental implant placement
Surgical intervention in implantology
The installation
We will accompany you to a dedicated surgery room, taking all necessary precautions to ensure your comfort and safety.
We will check your premedications, if applicable.
Next, you will need to do a chlorhexidine mouthwash for 1 minute. Then, we will dress you in a sterile disposable surgical gown.
Finally, we will position you on the surgical chair with sterile drapes and protections.
Surgical intervention
First, we will apply a local anesthetic gel, followed by an injection, similar to a traditional dental procedure, before the surgery.
Next, we will make an incision on your gum and gently lift it. The surgeon will perform a series of drillings under irrigation. Once that is done, the implant will be screwed in. We will then put the gum back in place with two stitches and check the wound.
In the case of posterior implants, you will leave the office with a small protective screw on the implant, which will be level with your gum. For aesthetic implants, we will most often place a prosthesis with immediate loading.
This procedure is simple and quick, taking about 20 minutes for one implant. You will not feel any pain during the procedure.
Implant surgery
Postoperative care instructions explanation
You will be relieved of sterile fields and protections.
We will explain the medication prescription to you, as well as postoperative advice to ensure your healing goes as smoothly as possible.
We will accompany you to the reception to schedule your next appointments.
Removal of stitches
We will have a follow-up appointment and to remove the stitches 15 days later.
Control of implant osseointegration and prosthesis
We will see you again for an osseointegration check-up after 3 months.
We will ensure that the bone has properly adhered to the implant through a clinical examination and an X-ray.
At this stage, the implant can receive the permanent prosthesis.
How much does a dental implant cost?
For a dental implant with a ceramic crown, the fee is CHF 3488.
The cost depends on the type of tooth, bone, and gum volume. Your oral surgeon will provide an estimate during the first consultation.
