Anesthesia and sedation
Care and surgeries with comfort and peace of mind
At Névé Dental Clinic, we understand that some patients feel anxious or uncomfortable about receiving dental care. To ensure a pleasant and painless experience, we offer several anesthesia and sedation options tailored to your needs. Whether you need local anesthesia, inhalation sedation with nitrous oxide, or general anesthesia, our team ensures your comfort.
Local Dental Anesthesia: Efficiency and Comfort
Local anesthesia numbs a specific area of the mouth during a dental procedure. It is particularly effective for fillings, deep cleanings, and simple extractions.
Procedure: We administer an injection of a local anesthetic (such as articaine) near the area to be treated. Within a few minutes, the region becomes numb. Additionally, we apply a pre-anesthetic gel for added comfort.
Advantages: Local anesthesia allows you to remain conscious and alert while making the treated area insensitive to pain. It is quick, effective, and carries minimal risks.
Recovery: The numbness wears off in a few hours, allowing for a quick return to normal sensation.
Inhalation sedation: Nitrous oxide for immediate relaxation
Inhalation sedation with nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas,” helps patients relax during dental treatments.
Procedure: We administer a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a mask placed over the nose. The patient breathes normally, and the gas takes effect almost immediately.
Advantages: Nitrous oxide induces a feeling of relaxation and well-being, reducing anxiety. The patient remains conscious and can respond to the dentist’s instructions.
Recovery: The effects dissipate quickly, allowing the patient to resume normal activities almost immediately after treatment.
General anesthesia: For complex procedures and anxious
Patients General anesthesia is used for complex dental procedures or for very anxious patients. Under general anesthesia, the patient is completely asleep and unconscious during the procedure.
Procedure: A qualified anesthetist administers the general anesthesia, usually through intravenous injection. We continuously monitor the patient to ensure their safety.
Advantages: This method eliminates any sensation of pain and discomfort, making it ideal for major surgical treatments or for patients requiring multiple treatments in a single session.
Recovery: After the procedure, the patient is monitored until they are fully awake. A rest period is necessary before leaving the clinic.
